Jersey Royal Potatoes The famous Jersey Royal is grown by our committed group of island farmers, many of whom are fourth or fifth generation. Although modern technology is used where appropriate, our dedicated grows continue to use some of the most traditional methods that have developed over the last 125 years. Traditionally each Jersey Royal is planted by hand, with many from the steep south facing slopes (côtils) being harvested by hand too. A number of sandy fields still have seaweed (Vraic) spread on them to add nutrients to the soil and add to the flavour of the delicious Jersey Royal. This unique potato can only come from Jersey. It has a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) awarded in 1997, similar to other distinctive foods and drinks, such as Champagne. Jersey Royal - Genuine New Potatoes
