The Jackson and Stichbury families have farmed the free draining soils of Marlborough's Wairau River plains for more than 160 years. The vines in our Homestead vineyard were planted in 1989 by Jackson Estate founders, John and Jo Stichbury.
Our aim is to make wines of elegance and finesse that show vineyard expression with minimal winemaking intervention. The fruit was harvested from the Homestead vineyard, whole bunch pressed then fermented in French oak barriques using indigenous yeasts before aging on lees for ten months prior to bottling.Jackson Estate embodies the very best of Marlborough New Zealand. Vinification Details
The barrel portion contained 25% new oak with the rest made up of 2-5 year old barrels. Fermentation was carried out in both stainless and barrel by indigenous yeasts and reached a maximum temperature of 25C. Aged for 9 months in oak, the barrel batch was racked, assessed and blended with the aged tank portion and prepared for bottle late March 2014
